Larry Mutschler is a proud Delawarian - born and raised in Delaware. In 1978, Larry’s Mobile, located in Wilmington Delaware, started Concord Pet out of a trailer to answer the demand to feed the local horses. Business flourished and in 1981, the same year NASA launched the very first Space Shuttle mission, Ronald Reagan was President, and the launch of the first PC, Larry opened the first Concord Pet Foods & Supplies retail location on Concord Pike in Wilmington, Delaware. Originally Larry had two partners – his brother, and a good friend. Concord Pet Foods & Supplies is proud to still be family-owned by Larry and his daughter and son - Lindsay and Larry Jr, serving local customers throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware. In addition to retail locations, Concord Pet offers online shopping through the website, and local delivery through Instacart.
The first Concord Pet Foods & Supplies location, opened in 1981, entailed only one employee in a 1,000 sq foot building. The company grew to 9 locations by 1998, 20 by 2010, and presently Concord Pet Foods & Supplies is proud to have 33 locations. Over the years Concord Pet Foods & Supplies has supported local fundraisers, nonprofit organizations, and rescue groups such as Faithful Friends, Tanner’s Endless Love, and Paws for People. In 2021, Concord Pet Foods & Supplies partnered with WJBR to raise donations every year for Nemours Pet Therapy Program. In their first year they were able to donate $20,000 to the program all with the support of the local community and customers.
Concord Pet Foods & Supplies is known for their involvement in the community with individual store events, and company events. Every year Concord Pet hosts the popular Pets in the Park event, a FREE family event (including pets) with family fun games, an abundance of vendors with free samples, and fun activities for the pups, such as Dock Dogs. Individual Concord Pet locations often host events such as adoption events, vaccine clinics, photo booth and games over select holidays, and plant sales! Speaking of sales, did you know that Concord Pet Foods & Supplies has two large Sale Events – Moonlight Madness in December, and Anniversary Sale in June.
